Oh my!

Today JP read "Matt the Rat" from front to back, all by her self. I was so proud! So as a reward for doing so well with reading I took her to the library. She picked out two books and two DVD's. Then we went and stood in line. I grabbed her little pink wallet out of my purse and helped her get "HER" library card out. So...we are waiting in line and JP is holding her things, with the straightest back I have ever seen on a child. Everything about her posture and expression screamed "I am a big girl and all of you will take note of that fact!" While stretching her head to the ceiling and looking down her nose to observe all of the little people beneath her, she noticed a woman behind us who was looking at DVD's. JP twisted her neck, tilting her head slightly to the side and remarked "I love your bag." The woman and I both giggled and blushed at how cute the remark and the attitude were. She was holding a brown paper sack, people! The woman responded politely, "Thank you. I love your hair." JP acknowledged the woman's meager attempt at communicating with one so great as herself, and we giggled again. To be a fly on the wall watching this five year old trying to be forty is one of the cutest things I have ever seen.
